Earlier this year we advertised for a new part-time position at Westminster – a Coordinator of Congregational Life.

This new position is to have three main responsibilities: (a) Connecting with newcomers; (b) Coordinating some select fellowship events, especially related to our developing role as a Teaching Centre; and (c) Coordinating specific aspects of the church's communications, including the church website, podcast, worship service graphics, and a weekly print bulletin.

We are happy to announce that Simone Ramoutar is the successful applicant!

Simone has a golden trifecta of qualifications for this position: people skills, organizational skills, and experience with digital media.

She will formally begin her role in September.

Here is a message from Simone: “I was born and raised on the twin islands of Trinidad and Tobago. After moving here for college in 2006 I started my career in the hospitality/spa industry. In 2015 I moved to Toronto where shortly after my partner and I got married then started our family. Just before Covid, we moved our growing family to Barrie. As the kids got older and places started reopening, we were on the search for a church home. A place in which we could be rooted, where the kids could grow, learn and experience the true teachings of Jesus Christ. Lo and behold, Westminster kept coming up and after our first visit, it was clear that this would be our Church home. Since attending Westminster, the kids have made so many new friends and my daughter Addy is always the first to remind us that we have church on Sunday. Her highlight every week is always church on Sunday and playing the piano downstairs after Sunday school.
When this role came up, I was very excited. Westminster and its congregation have shown us so much love and support from the day we started coming here. Having witnessed the goodness of God through each of you, I am pleased to be in the position to give back to all of you and all those that are yet to join our church family.”
