“Move fast and break things.” That’s Mark Zuckerberg’s famous motto. It’s highly problematic, of course. But it’s fitting for our times. Our obsession with speed and busyness is hurting not only ourselves, but others.
However, it doesn’t need to be this way. This sermon on John 15:1-17 on Anniversary Sunday provides a suggestion that is wonderfully simple and also refreshing to our souls. We explore the text, Jesus’ non-stop use of the word “abide,” and two specific suggestions. We also discover that slower time with Christ means better time with everybody else.
Tim Chester and Christopher de la Hoyde write: “Every day there are noises that distract us from intimacy with our Father.” Those noises, however, don’t need to be the boss when we slow down in Jesus.
