Followers of Christ are a “people of the Word.” As such they are called to be people of their word. Yes, this is about keeping promises, but it is also about more than that. It is about truth-telling no matter what, and being, according to Dietrich Bonhoeffer, “a light even in his words.”
This sermon (also released as a podcast episode) continues a series on the 10 Commandments called “The Royal Family Code.” It unpacks commandment nine: “You shall not bear false witness against your neighbour.” It also looks at Jesus’ words in Matthew 5:33-37 and James 3:1-12.
