On Sunday, September 7, 2025 we begin a new teaching series on the letters of the apostle John. In your New Testaments they are listed as 1, 2 and 3 John.
The series is called "For The Love of God." When most people use that expression, they are expressing frustration. Here it is used in another sense. You are here on earth because of God's love. He chose you before the foundation of the world (Ephesians 1:4-5). Further, you are here to share and show the love of God. This isn't sentimental love or a fuzzy feeling. It is the sacrifical love of Christ which blesses others in profound ways.
The author of these letters is someone we are wise to pay attention to. John walked and talked with Jesus. He speaks with powerful love, courage, authority and clarity. He wrote because Jesus commissioned him (and the other apostles) to spread his teaching with the world.
This series will take us into Advent 2025. If you can, bring your Bible. Prepare to be engaged by the Word of God. The series addresses light and dark, spiritual warfare (including demons), love and hate, sin and righteousness, daily discipleship, union with God, false teachers, and living with clarity and integrity in a world in trouble.
"This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth" (1 John 1:5-6).
Let's learn together. "For the love of God."
