As a part of our eldership structure, every two years three of our elders have their 6-year term expire. As a part of our regular process, therefore, we will be holding elder elections toward the end of the year.

Elders are elected leaders in the church who meet monthly to oversee the wellbeing of the congregation and make decisions about its life and work.

Steve Sainsbury, Aaron Harris and Tom Walsh have their 6-year terms end at the end of 2025. They have the option to let their names stand for re-election if they so choose. Our other current elders are Jim Bewick, Mary Colvin, Guy Gagnon, Colin Leonard, Carolyn Trott and Pastor Ruttan.

After prayerful consideration, Cathy Clark is also stepping down from her role as an elder as of October 15, citing her heavy workload in the wider presbytery as she leads worship on most Sundays at other congregations without a minister.

We will therefore be looking for four new elders. We normally have nine elders plus the pastor.

We will hold a nomination period from November 16 to 30 as per our usual process. Look for more detailed information in the weeks to come, and pray for God’s guidance for these important roles. :)

“I exhort the elders among you… shepherd the flock of God that is among you, exercising oversight,  not under compulsion, but willingly, as God would have you; not for shameful gain, but eagerly; not domineering over those in your charge, but being examples to the flock. And when the chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the unfading crown of glory.” -1 Peter 5:1-4
